My Work
Lately I've been learning a boatload of music for our new acoustic band project known as Jaynestown. Yes, we play the Firefly theme.
This project is, I think, unique in scope and presentation. We specialize in amplified acoustic sets played at "normal" volumes, so we can perform in coffee houses, breweries, wineries, street corners where noise ordinances have to be followed... but we also sport full a full blown PA when we need to. So far it's been fun and we're booked all summer. For the latter part of 2017 I tackled a small album project called Tick Tock: One Minute Music. This ended up being a collection of short musical cues ranging from 45 seconds up to about three minutes for the longest one I think. They span all kinds of genres, from EDM to Classical music. I also entered the FilmSupplyChallenge 2017 contest by creating an opening credit sequence for a TV show that doesn't exist (yet.) My son published his first novel, The Mountain Throne, at the end of the year and after reading it, I had no trouble visualizing it as a television replacement for Game of Thrones, when that show finally ends... and with that visualization came some really cool little music bits. So I took one of those and a handful of FilmSupply video clips (required for the contest) and created an opening credit sequence. Because I'm not a video producer, I'm sure there are things that could be done better with the video itself, but I still found the project quite interesting and I was generally pleased with my end result. |
